Ready to vote? Make a voting plan for Burlington’s 2026 municipal election, Oct. 14 - 26

This October, eligible voters in Burlington will choose who they want to represent them on Burlington City Council in the 2026 municipal election. Voting for the municipal election takes place between Oct. 14 and 26. Residents are encouraged to make a voting plan, so they are prepared to cast their ballot, using the voting option most convenient for them.

Make a voting plan

Making a voting plan is easy, follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Check if you are eligible to vote

You are eligible to vote if you are:

• A Canadian citizen
• At least 18 years old
• Living in Burlington (own or rent), or
• Not living in Burlington, but you or your spouse own or rent property in Burlington

Step 2 – Confirm you’re on the Voters’ List

Being registered on the Voters’ List makes in-person voting faster and ensures you receive a voter information letter in the mail.

To confirm if you are on the Voters’ List, visit myvoteburlington.ca.

If your information needs to be updated or added to the Voters’ List, please:

• visit the Service Burlington counter on the first floor of City Hall, 426 Brant St. during business hours (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.), up to Oct. 23
• visit a Burlington Public Library branch during operating hours, up to Oct. 23
• go to a voting location during advance voting (Oct. 17 and 20) or on Voting Day (Oct. 26)

Step 3 – Review recent ward boundary changes

Minor changes to Burlington’s ward boundary structure were approved in May 2025 following a Council Composition and Ward Boundary Review. The ward boundary changes affect Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Check the new ward boundary map on myvoteburlington.ca/votingwards to see if your ward has changed.

Step 4 – Check your mailbox

Voter Information Letters will be mailed to eligible voters in early October. Voter Information Letters contain important voting information about how to vote online and in-person voting dates, times and locations.

Step 5 - Pick your preferred voting option, date and time

There are four ways to vote in the upcoming election:

• Online, using internet voting, from Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. to Oct. 23 at 8 p.m.
• In person at advance polls, on Oct. 17 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Oct. 20 (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
• In person on Voting Day, Oct. 26 (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
• By proxy – visit myvoteburlington.ca for details

To complete the online voting process, voters will follow a two-step verification process by email or text message.

Step 6 – Locate the closest voting location

In-person advance voting on Oct. 17 and Oct. 20 is available at three locations. Eligible voters can vote at any voting location:

• Skyway Community Centre - 129 Kenwood Ave.
• Burlington Seniors' Centre - 2285 New St.
• Tansley Woods Community Centre - 1996 Itabashi Way

On Voting Day, Oct. 26, there are 24 in-person voting locations, four in each ward. Eligible voters can vote at any voting location in their ward. See a list of locations by ward on myvoteburlington.ca.
