Candidate nomination period for Burlington’s 2026 municipal election closes Aug. 21 at 2 p.m.
The deadline to file or withdraw a nomination for the office of Mayor, Councillor or School Board Trustee for the 2026 Burlington municipal election is Friday, Aug. 21 at 2 p.m.
Between Oct. 14 – 26, eligible voters will choose who will represent them on City Council and make key decisions for their city.
To qualify as a candidate, you must be:
- A Canadian citizen
- At least 18 years old
- A resident in the City of Burlington
- A non-resident of Burlington and you or your spouse own or rent property in the city.
On Aug. 21, nominations and withdrawals can be filed between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Office of the City Clerk, at City Hall, located at 426 Brant St. by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling 905-335-7777 or emailing the Clerks Department at election@burlington.ca.
Individuals filing or withdrawing nominations must bring all required documents and identification and ensure their forms are complete. After 2 p.m., no additional nominations or withdrawals will be accepted.
